Het IKF heeft besloten dat de "tik-variant" van de vrije bal per 1 juli 2010 niet meer mag. De bal moet dan minimaal 1 meter afgelegd hebben in de lucht (evenwijdig aan de grond) voordat de medeaanvaller hem mag aanraken.

"IKF announces the official end of the "quick tap free pass" variant !!"From 1 July 2010, the playing rules have been changed and the free pass will become much more like its name, a pass. The ball will need to travel at least 1m through the air (measured parallel to the ground) before it can be played by a co-attacker"
